Watermelon Tourmaline is a rare variation of Tourmaline exhibiting a tri-colour zoning which distinctively resembles the lush summer fruit. It’s unique pigmentation is as a result of manganese and lithium trace elements changing its composition during the crystal’s growth, freezing the formation in time. The gem starts entirely pink, later forming the green rind as it continues to grow. It has been historically cherished as a stone of healing and tranquility.
